About the Artist
Sonika Sachdeva is a South Asian artist currently based in Bangkok. Her work is shaped by the many global cities she has lived and travelled through, and by a long-standing relationship with making by hand. Drawing from personal experience and observation, her paintings explore interior worlds, quiet emotion, and the spaces women hold for themselves.
She previously ran a pottery studio at IIT Bombay and sold her ceramic work professionally at bazaars across Mumbai. After a period centered around home and family, she returned to her practice and has recently shifted her focus to painting, bringing with her a strong sensitivity to material, form, and texture.
A recent and unexpected response to her work on social media marked a turning point, encouraging her to share more openly and recommit to her practice. Her work reflects this return, rooted in lived experience, restraint, and emotional honesty.
